Covert Game is the 14th book in the GhostWalker series, and this time it’s Gino Mazza’s story.
Once part of an unauthorized super-soldier program, Gino volunteers to extract one of Dr. Whitney’s GhostWalkers, who’s been captured on a mission, and where Gino meets his match in Zara.
Violet’s traitorous actions has placed the GhostWalker program in jeopardy, and Dr. Whitney sends Zara Hightower, one of his female GhostWalkers, on a mission to psychically wipe all the data from a chinese crime lord’s organization. Zara soon learns this is a suicide mission, and Dr. Whitney has ensured that although Zara may be captured, she will die long before giving up the information. Stored on an undetectable nano-drive in her head, Zara has the information and has wiped the data from the crime lords’ computers but the breach is detected and although she leaves no evidence of her activities, the crime lord is too paranoid to let her leave and begins torturing Zara and killing any of his employees who can’t determine how it was done.
Gino volunteers to try to extract Zara, and with the crime lord’s organization on lock-down it’s most assuredly a suicide mission but there’s something about Zara that calls to him, and he’s going in to get her out, GhostWalkers never leave one of their own in enemy territory. But, it could also be another one of Whitney’s traps and if it is, Gino will be the one to execute Zara. Gino is quietly present and nothing and noone will stand between him and Zara, not the crime lord’s partner who wants Zara for himself, and not even another GhostWalker.
This can be read as a stand-alone novel but it’s so much better when you start from the beginning… Go ahead and read this book, but I betcha you’ll want to read the rest. This is one of my favorite’s in this series.
