I have been absent from this site for quite some time. Personal issues have prevented me from keeping this site updated, but I think things are back on track, so let’s get right to it…
Christine Feehan has had a few books out since my last posts (obviously), so let’s get right to my first review:
Judgement Road is the first novel in Christine Feehan’s spin-off series, from her Sisters of the Heart series. We met the members of Torpedo Ink in the last novel of the Sisters of the Heart series, Bound Together.
Torpedo Ink: Trained as assassins, the 18 survivors of a brutal training system band together as Torpedo Ink, a motorcycle club, and hunt dangerous criminals while seeking their own redemption. ~ Christine Feehan
Judgement Road is poignant emotional rollercoaster, as we see the men and women of Torpedo Ink, try to assimilate living their lives after enduring years of physical and sexual abuse by their handlers. Trained as children to kill by any and all means possible, these children grew into highly skilled assassins with truly heartbreaking emotional issues when dealing with “real life”.
This is Reaper [aka Savaa Pajari], and Anya’s story. Anya is a woman on the run, but that’s okay, she’s used to taking care of herself. After witnessing a murder that would surely get her killed, Anya goes on the run and ends up as the Torpedo Inks newest bartender. Reaper is immediately attracted and knows he could never have a real relationship with a woman who wasn’t a “job”. And, Anya isn’t looking for any more complications than the one that brought her to the small town of Casper. She feels she is safe, at least for the time being, except for one Torpedo Ink member who watches her and doesn’t appear to like her at all. Reaper wants her out, because he knows if he ever gets his hands on her, he won’t give her up and he’s way too messed up in the head to take a chance with Anya. But he can’t help himself and she’s just as attracted to him. Neither can afford a relationship but both end up together, fighting their demons both real and imagined while the team continues to do what they do best in the “asset removal business”.
This is not a light-hearted romance, its gritty and oh so dirty and another great series from our Queen Christine. This new series pulls in our old friends from Sea Haven and the Sisters of the Heart, as Viktor, the TI President and leader, tries to help his family of assassins find their own peace in a world so foreign to them. The complete love and loyalty amongst this band of brothers (and sisters) allows you to concentrate on the story being told, you know these guys & girls have each others backs… There is a LOT of action in this story, because this group goes after the bad guys… They are free from their enslavement from the Russian training school (see Bound Together) but that hasn’t stopped them from taking out the bad guys!
This is another great series from Christine Feehan and I can’t wait for the next!
